Home Additions That Look Like They Were Always Part of Your House

Matching the new to the old is the hard part of any addition. We carry rooflines, windows, trim, and flooring through so the new space reads as one home, not a bump on the side. These are the additions we build most often:

  • Primary suites. A private bedroom, bath, and closet space that finally feels like a retreat. See how we plan a master bedroom addition.
  • Family rooms and great rooms. Room for everyone to gather, with the sightlines and seating that make a family room addition worth the project.
  • Kitchens and dining rooms. More counter space, and a table that seats the whole family at the holidays.
  • Living rooms, bathrooms, and basement space. A quieter second living area, a bath that ends the morning line, or lower-level space for guests and teens.
  • Outdoor living spaces. Covered porches, decks, and patios that stretch how you use the house in warm months.

Have something else in mind, like an in-law suite or a sunroom? Tell us your goal at the walkthrough and we will give you an honest answer on what works for your home and lot.

Our Home Addition Process, From First Walkthrough to Warranty Visit

We keep the process simple so you can focus on enjoying your new space. Here is what to expect.

Step 1

Walkthrough

We visit your home, talk through your goals and budget, and share what we think is possible.

Step 2

Live Design

We design with you in the room. You watch your 3D, full-color design take shape on our big screen, then put on VR goggles and walk through the finished addition before anything is built.

Step 3

Pre-construction

We complete the plans and specifications while our design consultant guides your selections. Choosing finishes early helps us avoid material lead-time delays.

Step 4

Construction

A dedicated foreman is your primary contact and keeps the work to our quality standards and on schedule. Most of the work is done by FoxBuilt employees, with a few trusted subcontractors.

Step 5

Warranty

We return about 45 days after you move in to take care of minor issues. We come back again around the one-year mark, after your home has been through a heating and cooling season, to handle any shrinkage or settlement.

What Goes Into the Price of a Home Addition

Every addition is priced to the project, so we do not quote a flat per-square-foot number. Most FoxBuilt remodels and additions fall between $100,000 and $1 million or more.

The rooms you add matter most. A kitchen or bath costs more per square foot than a bedroom because of cabinetry, plumbing, and fixtures. Foundation and site conditions, the way the new roof ties into your existing roofline, extending your HVAC and electrical, and your level of finishes all move the number too.

Our senior draftsman handles estimating and contract pricing from the final design plans, so the price you review is built on the design you have already seen in 3D. We will talk through a realistic range for your project at your design consultation.

Why Harrisburg Homeowners Trust FoxBuilt With Their Home Additions

We are a family-owned builder, and we have been building and remodeling in the Harrisburg area since 2001. John and Paul Fox lead the company, Stephen Fox manages our remodeling projects, and Lisa Hoover, our senior design consultant with more than 20 years of design and decorating experience, guides your selections. You meet the people responsible for your project by name.

Your addition comes with in-house design, a live 3D and VR walkthrough, a dedicated foreman, and two structured warranty visits. We are also a registered Pennsylvania home improvement contractor.

See What a Finished FoxBuilt Addition Looks Like

When you tour a finished addition, look at where the new rooms meet the original house: the roofline, the trim profiles, the flooring transition. That seam is where craftsmanship shows, and it is where we put our attention.

Home Addition Questions Harrisburg Homeowners Ask

It depends on size, the rooms involved, and your finishes, which is why we price each project after the design is set. Most FoxBuilt additions and remodels land between $100,000 and $1 million or more. Adding a kitchen or bathroom raises the cost per square foot because of plumbing, cabinetry, and fixtures, so a 1,500 square foot addition of bedrooms and one with a kitchen are two very different budgets. We will talk through a realistic range during your design consultation.

The structure and the systems behind the walls usually carry the biggest costs. Foundation work, framing, the roof tie-in, and extending HVAC, electrical, and plumbing come first, and kitchens and bathrooms add cabinetry and fixtures on top. Your finishes then decide how far the final number moves, which is why we walk you through selections early.

Once construction starts, a typical addition takes about 3 to 8 weeks, depending on its scale and complexity. Design and pre-construction come first, including plans, specifications, and selections, so the full timeline from first meeting to move-in is longer. Making selections early keeps materials from holding up your schedule.

In most Pennsylvania municipalities, yes. The state’s Uniform Construction Code governs additions, and your township or borough typically issues the building permit, so requirements and fees vary by location. We review what your municipality requires while we plan your project.

In most cases, yes. Homeowners can often stay in the house during an addition, and your dedicated foreman is your point of contact for daily schedule and access. Whether staying makes sense depends on how much of your existing home we open up, and we will tell you honestly during planning.

We carry your existing rooflines, siding, windows, trim, and flooring into the new space, and we test the design before we build. In your live design session you see the addition in full color on a big screen, and the VR walkthrough lets you check details like ceiling height and window placement before construction begins.

Plan Your Home Addition in Central PA

If a new room is part of a bigger project, we plan it all together so every piece works. That might mean a kitchen remodel alongside the addition, a whole-home remodel that reworks the main floor, or basement remodeling for more lower-level space.
